The South Pacific Peace Memorial Park was built to honor the lives of American and Japanese soldiers. It was the site of the island’s final battle during WWII. The monument symbolizes two praying hands. Located a few steps from the monument are stairs that lead to the lower part of Mataguac. Several caves are found in the area.
